Virginia Western Community College’s Roanoke campus will be closed to outside visitors on Thursday, Aug. 9 while it hosts a regional emergency planning and response drill. Students wishing to register for classes may do so in person at the adjacent Fishburn Park Elementary School or online at www.virginiawestern.edu/
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has joined the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, the City of Roanoke and other area federal, state and local agencies to conduct the exercise. The drill will test regional capabilities in law enforcement, fire and EMS response, hospitals and healthcare, education and family assistance.If possible, commuters are advised to avoid Colonial Ave. as it crosses the Virginia Western campus. Valley Metro riders will not be allowed access to campus at the Colonial Ave. stop. |

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM TRYOUTS
Women's Volleyball team tryouts will be held August 6 and 7. Tryouts will go from 5:00 – 7:30 PM in the Humanities Gymnasium (H100).
Students are required to take at least 9 credit hours in the Fall Semester, have their physicals, and proof of registered classes after August 2. Students should bring indoor shoes (no-scuff) and ankle protection if necessary.

If you registered for a class and payment structure has not been set by August 2, the system will drop your courses.

MEN’S SOCCER TEAM TRYOUTS
Men's Soccer team tryouts will be held August 6, 7, and 9 at the following times and locations:
Mon. August 6 - River's Edge Sports Complex North Field #1, 1:00 – 3:00 PM. (If there is inclement weather, an indoor session will occur 2:30 – 5:00 PM in Humanities Gymnasium (H100) on campus.)
Tue. August 7 - Humanities Gym (Indoor session) from 2:30 – 5:00 PM.
Thu. August 9 - River's Edge - North Field #1, 1:00 – 3:00 PM.
Students are required to take at least 9 credit hours in the Fall Semester, have their physicals, and proof of registered classes after August 2. Students should bring cleats, indoor shoes (no-scuff), shin guards, and drinking water. Come in shape to play.
