Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Topic–Advising

Thank you for helping Virginia Western choose Advising as the topic for a multi-year college improvement project! 
Virginia Western is currently working on our ten year reaffirmation process with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS-COC).  SACS-COC is the primary accreditation agency for school systems, colleges and universities throughout the southeast region of the United States. As part of this process, Virginia Western is designing a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) to improve student learning and/or your learning environment.

In February, several focus group sessions provided an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to provide their input for a QEP topic. In late April, students, faculty, and staff voted on the QEP topic during Spring Fling. Advising was chosen as the topic for the QEP since it received the most votes from students, faculty, and staff. 

The entire campus community will be asked for feedback starting during the fall to narrow our topic. We will also be forming additional QEP teams for fall and spring where we will be asking for student involvement. We will continue to provide QEP updates as we move forward to keep the lines of communication open. We look forward to conducting a transparent process with lots of campus involvement with the ultimate goal of improving student learning.

INFORMATION YOU NEED WHEN COMPLETING THE FAFSA

  • Complete your federal tax returns early - Use data from completed tax returns when possible.
  • Read the Instructions - You will find the application much easier to complete after reading the instructions.
  • VWCC's Title IV Code is 003760. For the processing center this is as important as your social security number. If you do not list VWCC's code to receive your FAFSA information, we cannot process any financial aid for you.
  • If you were selected for verification and have misplaced the Verification Worksheet that we emailed to you, you may print another copy by clicking here. Please complete the worksheet and return it to us with the appropriate tax forms.
  • If you have misplaced your tax return and would like to request a transcript summary from the IRS, you may do so by calling 1-800-829-1040. Beginning with the 2012-13 school year, only the tax return transcript summary from the IRS website will be accepted. Copies of tax returns will no longer be acceptable.
  • REMEMBER - Your Financial Aid package is not complete until all requested paperwork has been received in the Financial Aid Office. Please check your Virginia Western email regularly for important Financial Aid reminders or updates.

FINANCIAL AID Guaranteed Priority Date – JUNE 22

FALL 2012 STUDENTS – Guaranteed Priority Date for Financial Aid  applications for the fall 2012 semester (2012-2013 academic year) is JUNE 22. Your application date is a critical factor in receiving financial aid.

Please submit your financial aid application materials as early as possible. Students who have submitted all material required by the Financial Aid Office by the guarantee priority date will have their financial aid packaged by the tuition deadline.

Material received after the deadline will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, even if you are able to receive support, it likely will be provided on a retroactive basis after you already have enrolled in and paid for your courses. Be sure you are checking your student email and the Student Information System on MyVWCC regularly so that you may respond quickly if additional information is needed.
