DISCOVER MECHATRONICS SUMMER CAMP (RISING GRADES 6-8)

July 17 to 19, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., $145
Students in this three day camp will have the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of robotics, computer programming, electronics and mechanical processes through project based activities. Students will be able to design, build and program a unique project using a specific set of modules...all while building friendships in a fun-filled environment. The ultimate goal of the Mechatronics Camp is to inspire and educate students by introducing them to engineering technology and the many exciting career opportunities available to them in the high-tech industry.

Additionally, the summer camp will provide a fun and exciting atmosphere that encourages: Innovation, Creative thinking, Motivation, Organization, Self-esteem, and Teamwork.

CDL TRAINING in partnership with CDS Tractor Trailer Training

This CDL Class A driver training program is designed to be skill based and hands-on to prepare you for the trucking industry. Our courses are intended to focus on developing a strong work ethic, teamwork, and self-confidence.

Are you interested in developing your leadership skills, serving Virginia Western, meeting new people, and receiving a $1,000 scholarship?

Apply to be a 2012-2013 Ambassador!

Ambassadors provide a minimum of 25 hours per semester of campus service by giving group tours and staffing special events. Ambassadors also staff the Discover program (new student orientation) over the summer, and attend a student leadership conference in the fall.

Being an Ambassador is a fun and rewarding way to serve Virginia Western and get a scholarship at the same time!

NEED FAFSA HELP?

FINANCIAL AID FRIDAYS!  - Need help completing the FAFSA?  Staff from the Office of Financial Aid and Veterans’ Affairs will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 13 and Friday, April 20 in Webber 311 to help students complete the online financial aid application. If you have not completed a FAFSA for the upcoming 2012-13 academic year, one of these Fridays would be a great day to do it.

Advising Day for Fall Registration

In order to assist students in class selection and program requirements; faculty and academic advisors will be available on Friday, April 20 from 8:00 to 5:00 in the following computer labs.

  • Accounting, Administrative Management Technology, Culinary Arts, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Records Coding, Information Systems Technology, Management, Technical Studies and Welding students should go to Business Science room 268.
  • Math, Science and Health Technology students should go to Business Science room 320.
  • Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, General Studies, Early Childhood Development, Human Services and Wellness students should go to Business Science room 306.

The Advising/Retention Office will be closed on Friday, April 20 however they will be available in the labs listed above to assist students. If you have questions about which room you need to go, the front desk in Chapman Hall has a reference list and will be glad to assist.
