Upcoming Event: Life is Sweet!

 Life is Sweet!! Choose from a variety of toppings to create your own ice cream desert! Then, celebrate the sweetness of life by donating blood the same day! All donations help local patients at Carilion hospitals.

Cirque Du Soleil’s Quidam

Cirque Du Soleil's Quidam traveling show is coming to Roanoke Civic Center from March 28th to April 1st. In preparation for the shows they will be stopping on campus on Tuesday, March 20th, noon to 3 p.m. for a promotional tour. Stop by their bus, you won't be able to miss it, in parking lot 7!

At each tour stop temporary canopies, video monitors and flags/ signage will be set up in front of the bus.  Fans will take part in many interactive activities including:

 

-   Watch Quidam sizzle reels and behind the scenes videos

-   Souvenir photos with a Quidam theme using green screen technology

-   Opportunity to win Quidam show tickets and prizes

-   Receive Quidam branded popcorn bags and postcards

 

All fans are welcome to experience the tour and all activities are free to the public.

SCHEDULED SIS SYSTEM OUTAGE

There will be an outage of the Student Information System (SIS), the college on-line application, and the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) systems from Friday, March 23 at 6 a.m. through Monday, March 26 at 7 a.m.  The Virginia Community College System (VCCS) will be upgrading these systems during this time period.  During this time, students will not be able to apply on-line to the college or access the VCCS SIS: Student Information System. Students wanting to apply or needing to add or drop a class will need to come in person to the Admissions Office located in Chapman Hall.  Blackboard, My VWCC, Gmail, and the Wizard will continue to be available. We appreciate your cooperation and patience during this scheduled outage.

GRADUATION REMINDERS

Graduation Fee Reminder -If you are a spring or summer graduation applicant and have not paid your $15.00 graduation fee, please do so as soon as possible in the Cashier’s Office, located in Chapman Hall.  After you have paid the fee, please bring your receipt to the Records Office.

Graduation Video – please email Publicrelations@virginiawestern.edu to be part of the graduation video.

Commencement Name Pronouncement - Call 857-6699 to make sure your name is pronounced correctly during the Commencement Ceremony.

Attention Graduating Students!!! We need your help! As a graduation candidate, you are in a uniquely important position take to take an online test of information literacy that will help assess the quality of teaching and learning at Virginia Western.  This is not a test that you need to study or prepare for in advance. Those who participate by Saturday, April 7 will be entered in a drawing for $25 gas cards. TEN gas cards will be awarded.

This will take about an hour of your time, and to minimize the burden of this graduation requirement, we have arranged for you to do this at your convenience in the Learning Technology Center (LTC) on the ground floor of Brown Library, during their normal operating hours:

  • Monday-Thursday from 8a.m. to 7p.m.
  • Friday from 8a.m. to 4p.m.
  • Saturday from 9a.m. to Noon

If you have any questions, please contact the LTC at 857-7250. When you arrive at the LTC, explain that you are there to take the VCCS Core Competency Test and bring a PHOTO ID and your Virginia Western email address. We ask that you please complete the test at your earliest convenience and no later than Saturday, April 7.
