Project Management Exam Prep Class, February 2 - April 5, 6 - 9:30 p.m. in Duncan Hall, Room D107. This course is designed to introduce students to the concepts of Project Management as defined by the Project Management Institute, the accrediting body for project management. It will also fulfill the requirement for 35 contact hours of project management education for individuals seeking PMP certification. Diversity Events February 2012

The Cultural Diversity and International Education Committee exists to:

  • promote global education and the acceptance and inclusion of a diverse population,
  • develop and promote initiatives and programs for diversity awareness and understanding, and
  • identify academic issues of international students, such as English as a Second Language, and develop methods to address the issues.

As part of our charge to promote inclusion and increase diversity awareness and understanding, we will be sharing Diversity Events with you every month via the Daily Bulletin.  We hope you find this information informative and inspiring.

On this day in 1895, the famed African-American abolitionist, editor, orator, author, statesman, and reformer died of a heart attack in his adopted hometown of Washington, D.C.

International Mother Language Day

Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday") or Shrove Tuesday, is the last day of feasting before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.

Western Christianity Lent

Lent is period of fasting and prayer before Easter. The forty days (Sundays are not included in the count) represents the time Jesus spent in the desert overcoming temptation by Satan. The period of Lent is preparation for the annual commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus, celebrated during Holy Week.

W.E.B. DuBois Birthday

American civil rights activist, sociologist, educator, historian, writer, editor, poet, and scholar, William Edward Burghardt Du Bois was born this day in 1868. He was the first African-American to hold a Doctorate.

 

Fall 2012 – Guaranteed Priority Date for Financial Aid

FALL 2012 STUDENTS – Guaranteed Priority Date for Financial Aid  applications for the fall 2012 semester (2012-2013 academic year) is JUNE 22. Your application date is a critical factor in receiving financial aid.

Please submit your financial aid application materials as early as possible. Students who have submitted all material required by the Financial Aid Office by the guarantee priority date will have their financial aid packaged by the tuition deadline.

Material received after the deadline will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, even if you are able to receive support, it likely will be provided on a retroactive basis after you already have enrolled in and paid for your courses. Be sure you are checking your student email and the Student Information System on MyVWCC regularly so that you may respond quickly if additional information is needed.
