Get Fit Challenge

Happy New Year VWCC Students!  If you are ready to kick your wellness and fitness plan into gear, don't miss the Get Fit 2012 Registration beginning this week!  This is our 6 week Get Fit program that can help you get results towards better fitness.  Registration is simple and FREE.  Stop into the Fitness Center for a Registration packet.  In 6 weeks you can have MORE ENERGY, BALANCED NUTRITION and a STRONGER BODY!

Click on the attached Info Sheet for more information.  Registration Times this week (January 23-27) are:

  • Monday 1p-3p
  • Tuesday 10-2p
  • Wednesday 10a-11a and 1p-3p
  • Thursday 10a-2p

Radford University Onsite Admissions

Radford University will be on campus in the Student Center, Tuesday, February 21st for On-Site Admissions. This is a great opportunity to get an early admissions decision! You will need to schedule an appointment in the Advising Office in Chapman Hall, room 105. The deadline for scheduling an appointment and turning in all application materials is Thursday, February 9th. Appointments will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis, so schedule early!

To sign up for an appointment with an RU Admissions Representative, you must do the following:

1. Complete an online application (https://www.applyweb.com/apply/runet/menu.html ) and pay application fee by February 9th.
2. Submit the following documents to the Advising Office:
• Official college transcripts – must be submitted to Radford prior to making your appointment. This includes dual enrollment work.
• Official high school transcript and SAT/ACT scores- Only need HS transcript and test scores if you have completed less than 24 credit hours and/or have not completed a college level math course.
• Prepare time lapse statement if there is a gap of time after high school and/or between college attendance that needs to be accounted for.

Super Saturday – Financial Aid Day

Need help with your 2012 FAFSA?  The Financial Aid Office will be hosting Super Saturday on February 4 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to assist new and current students with completing the FAFSA.  The event will take place on the 3rd floor of Webber Hall.  Please bring your 2011 W-2's and completed 2011 income tax return.  Representatives from the VWCC Financial Aid Office and other area colleges will be available to assist you.

How to Use Blackboard in Your Courses-Tips and Tricks!

Blackboard is a Web-based course-management system designed to allow students and faculty to participate in online classes or use online materials and activities to complement face–to-face teaching. This workshop will present information about how to use Blackboard to access course features, such as course syllabus, customizing your entry page, downloading course documents, participating in discussion boards, using the new assignment submitting feature and taking online quizzes.

Departing Virginia Western Community College at 8 a.m. / Return approx. 9 p.m.

Outlet stores, LEGO land, Bass Pro Shops, NASCAR Speedpark and more! Spend the day shopping, relaxing and having fun at Concord Mills shops! Trip includes transportation on a charter bus to Concord Mills. Participants must bring money for meals. $10 deposit required (returned upon arrival at event, day of trip). Only currently enrolled VWCC students, faculty or staff may attend.
