A number of scholarships are available through the Virginia Community College System. Click this link for information http://www.vccs.edu/Foundation/Scholarships.aspx .

Be sure to check back in January many of the scholarships will open for applications. Pay close attention to the Valley Proteins Fellowships opportunities. Ten fellowships will be awarded for the 2012-2013 academic year based on strong academic records, leadership potential and commitment to community service. The deadline to apply is April 2, 2012.

In addition to receiving up to $5,000 for tuition, books, fees, and supplies, the program provides the Fellows with opportunities to share in cultural and educational experiences and meet with successful business and government leaders from across the commonwealth. Fellows will also receive a $3,000 summer stipend. In addition to receiving a scholarship valued at approximately $10,000, the Fellows will receive support and inspiration from each other to continue pursuing their educational goals and serving their community—priceless!

Apply for the Clinton Global Initiative University

Greetings Students!

The application to attend the 2012 meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U), hosted by President Clinton, is now available.  Click here to apply online.

The deadline for applying to attend the meeting is Tuesday, January 17th.

President Clinton will host CGI U 2012 at The George Washington University from Friday, March 30th to Sunday, April 1st, 2012.  CGI U is President Clinton’s initiative designed to engage the next generation of leaders on college campuses around the world.  Each CGI U student member makes a Commitment to Action: a specific plan of action that addresses a pressing challenge on their campus, in their community, or in a different part of the world.

CGI U is proof that young people have the power to make a significant impact by confronting some of the world's most urgent challenges.  I hope you have the chance to experience this event in DC!
