Testing Center Extended Hours

April 27th – May 9th the Testing Center will have extended hours.
Our hours will be:
  • Monday – Thursday 8am - 8pm
  • Friday 8am - 5pm
  • Saturday 9am – 1pm
We stop handing out tests a half hour before closing. All tests must be finished by closing time. No children are allowed in the Testing Center.

Special End-of-the-Semester Hours in Brown Library

The Academic Link (main floor of Brown Library) and Library Services (top floor of Brown Library) are having special hours to support you through the end of this semester:

April 20 – May 2

Monday through Thursday: 8am to 8pm

Friday: 8am to 5pm

Saturday: 9am to 1 pm

May 4 – May 9 (Exam Week)

Monday through Thursday: 8am to 8pm

Friday: 8am to 2pm

Saturday: 9am to 1pm

We Want YOU to Help Design the New College Website!

Virginia Western’s web team is currently working on a new design for the college’s website, and we want your help!

We want our new web site to be built to serve students first, but to do that we need to know what you want! Please take a few minutes to complete our online survey -- http://tinyurl.com/vwcc-student-websiteand let us know what you think.

There will also be opportunities this summer and fall to help us test our new design, so keep your eyes peeled!

Mindless Eating - A Different Approach to Weightloss
Fascinating research by Peter Wansink, Ph.D. published in his books "Mindless Eating" & "Slim by Design", will be presented. His studies ask questions such as: Does the size of a plate/cup/bowl effect how much you eat? What is the effect of eating while watching TV? How does the arrangement of food in your pantry/refrigerator affect what and how much you eat. Learn how to change your environmental versus relying on will power to lose weight or improve your diet.

A 3-day, 2-night community service-focused cultural immersion experience!

Lodging at Hungry Mother State Park’s historical bunkhouse near Abingdon, VA.

$25 all-inclusive fee ($10 deposit reserves your spot- the remaining $15 is due April 24th)

TED Talk Thursday

The Student Activities Office will be hosting a weekly TED Talk Series this spring in the new Student Life Center!

Join your Student Activities department and fellow students every Thursday at 1pm on the 3rd floor of the Student Life Center (S307) to sip caffeinated beverages, watch selected Ted Talks (www.ted.com) and after, stay for some enlightening (or just plain silly) conversations.
