Virginia Western Spirit Club

Can you do a pike jump, split or toe touch? If not, would you like to learn?

Have you been told you have a distinct loud voice? Then the Virginia Western Spirit Club is looking for you!

This student organized and faculty supported cheer and dance team attends Virginia Western athletic events and serves as an entertaining component to the crowds, while supporting and encouraging the Virginia Western Rapids players with eye-catching moves and transitions.  The team is also involved in community and campus events like pep rallies, service events, fundraising, and regular weekly rehearsals.

Come to our last conditioning and try-out session for the winter in the Humanities gymnasium (H100), Sunday, March 1 from 3:30pm-6:30pm. Students will be emailed confirmation of making the Spirit Club.

The Fitness Center is staying open during the spring break on reduced hours and with some classes available.

Monday - Thursday:  8:30 AM - 6:30PM

Friday: 8:30 AM - 4:00PM

The following schedule is of classes:

Monday--->    Hip-Hop Cardio: 8:30AM - 9:30 AM and Hard Core 9:30 AM-10:00 AM

Tuesday--->    Step it Up: 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM and Sculpting Blast 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Wednesday--->    Buns, Guns, and Guts: 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM and Yoga 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Thursday--->     Pilates: 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

TED Talk Thursday (Topic: Too Busy to Volunteer? Think Again.)

The Student Activities Office will be hosting a weekly TED Talk Series this spring in the new Student Life Center!

Join your Student Activities department and fellow students every Thursday at 1pm on the 3rd floor of the Student Life Center (S307) to sip caffeinated beverages, watch selected Ted Talks (www.ted.com) and after, stay for some enlightening (or just plain silly) conversations.

Dave Meslin: The antidote to apathy - Local politics — schools, zoning, council elections — hit us where we live. So why don't more of us actually get involved? Is it apathy? Dave Meslin says no. He identifies 7 barriers that keep us from taking part in our communities, even when we truly care.

Ben Rigby: Micro-Volunteering....Giving Back for Busy People - In a unique approach to voluntarism, Ben Rigbyhas taken the time element out of doing good works. For the past 15 years, he has focused his efforts on developing youth-focused Web and mobile phone software.
