Radford University On-Site Admissions!

Radford University is coming to campus for an on-site admissions day!  This is a great opportunity to get an early admissions decision!  To meet with Radford you need to follow the below instructions to sign-up for an appointment.

Radford University will be on campus in the Natural Science Center, Thursday, Feb. 19th for On-Site Admissions.  You will need to schedule an appointment in the Advising Office in Chapman Hall, room 105. The deadline for scheduling an appointment will be Monday, Feb. 9th.  Appointments will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis, so schedule early!

To sign up for an appointment with a Radford University Admissions Representative you must:

  1. Complete the online application to Radford University.
  2. Print out a copy of the complete application and bring it to Steven Chichester in Chapman 105  to sign up for a specific meeting time (appointments will be scheduled in 20 minute increments).
  3. Bring official transcripts from VWCC and any other colleges & universities you have previously attended to Steven Chichester in Chapman 105 (Unofficial transcripts will not be reviewed).
  4. Bring official high school transcripts (necessary if you have not taken a college level math, successfully completed developmental math that includes up through Algebra II,  or if you have completed less than 24 transferable credits)

Please be aware that in order to make an appointment you will need to turn in ALL of the required documents.

What Happens During My On-Site Admissions Appointment?         

  1. You will meet with an admissions representative from Radford University.
  2. You will receive an admissions decision!
  3. You will find out more about transfer scholarships and will learn about the next steps after being accepted.

Virginia Western Spirit Club

Can you do a pike jump, split or toe touch? If not, would you like to learn?

Have you been told you have a distinct loud voice? Then the Virginia Western Spirit Club is looking for you!

This student organized and faculty supported cheer and dance team attends Virginia Western athletic events and serves as an entertaining component to the crowds, while supporting and encouraging the Virginia Western Rapids players with eye-catching moves and transitions.  The team is also involved in community and campus events like pep rallies, service events, fundraising, and regular weekly rehearsals.

Come to weekly conditioning and try-outs all month long in the Humanities gymnasium (H100), Sundays from February 8 through March 1, from 3:30pm-6:30pm. Students will be emailed confirmation of making the Spirit Club.

Rapids Mens Basketball Tomorrow!

Come out and support your Virginia Western's Mens Basketball team tomorrow as they take on Davidson County Community College at 3pm!

All home games are played in the Humanities Gym (H100) and are free and open to the public.

16th Annual “Tons of Fun” Free Family Event

Roanoke County Parks and Recreation will be holding their 16th annual "Tons of Fun" and camp fair event Saturday, February 7th at Tanglewood Mall from 10am- 4pm. This event is free for children and their families and will indeed prove to be a ton of fun, so mark your calendars!

Some of the events, designed specifically for children 12 and under, include a performance by children's performer Roger Day, inflatable bounce houses, rides, puppet shows, face painting, clowns, creative crafts, magic and many more.

In addition to "Tons of Fun", Roanoke County will be holding a Camp Fair. This fair will have representatives of summer camps throughout the region to answer any questions you might have. Door prizes include free weeks at camp, so definitely something to check out!

 

Spring Student ID’s

Student ID office is located on the third floor of the Student Life Center, in front of Subway.

Spring ID office schedule (minus holidays and school closings):

Monday – Thursday        8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Friday                                  8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Students who need a new ID need to bring a copy of their fall schedule with their name on the schedule printed January 1st or later, phone or tablet schedules from the Virginia Western app are also acceptable. Students must bring a government issued photo ID along with their EMPLID number.

Students with VWCC IDs just need to bring a copy of their schedule to get their Spring 2014 sticker. We no longer have open computer terminals next to our ID office, so students must have their schedules before they come to the office.
