Technology Circulation Policies

Laptops

Laptops are loaded with Microsoft Office Suite and have Wi-Fi capabilities.

  • You must be a current Virginia Western student
  • Checkout period is 14 days
  • Requires a photo ID and signature on a checkout form
  • Renewels are not allowed

If all laptops are checked out, you can add your name to a waiting list.

There is a $500 penalty for unreturned laptops and accessories. Class registration will also be blocked.

iPads

Installed on the iPads are a variety of useful, educational, and fun apps for your use. All iPads have the same apps available.

  • You must be a current VWCC student or employee and bring your current VWCC photo ID with you
  • Checkout period is 2 hours, in-library use only
  • Requires signature on a checkout form
  • Can be renewed in person for another 2 hours, if no one else has requested it
  • Must be returned 15 mins. prior to closing time

There is a $600 penalty for unreturned or destroyed units and accessories. Class registration, graduation, and transcripts will also be blocked. In addition, the college may turn the debt over to a collection agency or offset the debt against your state income tax refund.

GPS Units

  • You must be a current VWCC student or employee
  • Checkout period is 14 days for faculty and staff; 7 days for students
  • Requires a photo ID and signature on a checkout form
  • User supplies 2 AA batteries
  • Can be renewed in person

There is a $200 pentalty for unreturned units and accessories. Class registration will also be blocked.
