Welcome to Our New Library Staff Members

We are excited to announce that two new Reference Assistants started at Brown Library this semester.

Marci Myers comes to us from the Bedford County Public Library System and received her M.L.S. degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

Rebecca Greer most recently worked at the architecture library at Virginia Tech and previously worked at Blacksburg City Public Libraries. She is a student in the graduate library science program at the University of Washington.

Both Marci and Rebecca will be working during our day hours. Please join us in welcoming them to Brown Library!

Where are the Books?

Due to the renovation of the Circulation floor (top floor) of the library, the majority of the library’s print books have been put into storage.  But don’t worry— the entire circulating collection of books will be back in place on the top floor when the renovation is complete later this year!

In the meantime, you still have several options for books to support your research:

  • Use the “Core Collection”

A small collection of books (approximately 1000 volumes) is available for checkout.  These books can be checked out for a two-week period.  Go to the Circulation Department on the library’s main floor to access this collection.

  • Use our eBooks

The library’s extensive eBook collection (over 40,000 e-Books) is still available during the renovation.  Students can access eBooks from off-campus locations by using their MyVWCC username and password.

  • Use Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is an option for students who require print books for academic work. It usually takes 5-10 business days for books to arrive. Please keep this time frame in mind when making an ILL request.

Brown Library staff members are glad to help you with all of your information needs. Ask a Librarian!
