“Great course material that skips the grammar, and sticks with commands. The instructor involved the students on all levels getting us prepared for the street. Please continue offering Command Spanish for Law Enforcement Officer’s to our officers as an ongoing training.” |

“This was a very good class. I feel very comfortable talking with the Hispanic community because of this class. This will save my life, possibly someday. I am very interested in more Spanish courses in the future.” |

“The recent Excel training class taught by Virginia Western was excellent. The staff who attended the half-day class have already seen increased productivity and have constantly been complementing the instructor on a great job. Comments such as "he was a great instructor," "I could listen to him all day," and "he taught me more in half of a day than I learned in a two week class before." The Virginia Western instructor also went beyond the class room and assisted one of our employees over the phone the next day. Through the instructor’s assistance, the employee was able to greatly reduce the time required to perform a recurrent task.” |

FranMcMaster is an excellent instructor-we enjoyed this class very much and think it was helpful to me and my employees. Fran was very willing to work with our certain specific situation and help us resolve real issues! I appreciate that Fran tailored the class to our specific needs. I think everyone benefited from these training sessions!! |

Virginia Western Community College, along with the Western Virginia Water Authority, designed a Supervisor/Management training program for 2007 that has enabled the Water Authority to offer additional training to their employees and enrich these employees' career opportunities and job knowledge. The classes were customized to meet the needs of the Water Authority and the employees were able to relate to the subject matter at a much higher level than a typical class curriculum could ever offer. The positive employee surveys prove the program was a success and we plan on scheduling the next series of classes in 2008 for all new employees entering into management and supervisory positions…We feel we have developed a long-term partnership with Virginia Western and we can now offer an excellent training opportunity for our management staff. |

The team building program and pre-employment screening provided by VWCC has proved to be nothing less than outstanding. By previously screening a large pool of candidates with Work Keys testing and reducing the field to a group of twenty technically competent candidates, it enabled McAirlaids to make hiring selections based on how individuals will work together as a team in the work place. The combination of various personality trait tests to indicate expected behavior and team exercises to validate the results of said testing proved to be very effective. The ability to observe the activities, particularly the group problem solving exercise, made it easy to see which of the candidates were leaders, technicians, workers, and in some cases not able to work in a team environment. By using the information acquired during the pre-employment screening session, McAirlaids has been successful in hiring people in groups that have sets of complimentary skills. To date the results have been nothing short of exceptional. There have been no surprises. The expected leaders, technicians, and those who just like to work have all quickly emerged as such and have formed cohesive, cooperative teams. I will definitely use this tool for future hiring and would recommend it to anyone whose goal is to make wise hiring decisions for a team oriented organization. |
