Information & Educational Technologies
The Information and Educational Technologies (IET) department includes the functional groups of Help Desk, Administrative and Web Applications Services, and System Services. We support and coordinate information and education technology related services.
Our mission is to provide support services through a technologically effective, reliable, safe, and secure network for students, faculty, and staff which enhances student learning. Information and Educational Technologies maintains security measures to protect and backup data; ensures confidentiality and integrity of student academic records; and provides an optimal technology enhanced educational environment for all VWCC students, faculty and staff.
What is it?
The college’s core network switches will be upgraded during the Christmas break. We expect a network outage starting 10 AM December 26th continuing through 11 AM December 27th. There will be additional outages for brief periods through the week as individual items are tested, updated and upgraded.
What does it mean to me?
During the outage noted above, no Internet, computer or phone services will be available from locations on campus. If you are off-campus, all VCCS Enterprise services normally available through MyVWCC will be available. Some services on campus may be sporadically available during the break as the different components are tested and tuned.
Why is this needed?
IET is working on a major infrastructure upgrade of the VWCC network infrastructure over the December holiday break. During these major upgrades, service interruptions are unavoidable. Please plan accordingly and enjoy the holiday.
