We are extremely proud of our reputation and especially the talents and contributions of our dedicated hard-working employees who provide these services within our community.
Every employee is valuable and plays a very important role in helping to fulfill our mission. We fully support and encourage methods - both formal and informal - to recognize, praise and reward our employees for outstanding contributions, exemplary performance and continuous service.
Our goal is to acknowledge and recognize our employees and to encourage excellence in service to the College and the citizens that we serve. We have a variety of both formal and informal recognition programs, with specialized events scheduled throughout the year.
Some of these events are:
- Length of Service Awards - The annual Length of Service Award recognition program celebrates and honors employees for their length of service. This program honors full and part-time faculty and staff with five or more years of service, at five-year milestones. The College President and their respective manager present certificates and/or awards.
- Outstanding Achievement Awards - The Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes excellence and honors staff members for their outstanding dedication, enthusiasm, extraordinary accomplishments and contributions to the mission of the College. Being honored publicly is one of the highest honors the College bestows. Nominations are received and an appointed committee selects winners. Nominations are evaluated based upon characteristics that exemplify truly extraordinary contributions and outstanding achievements. Recipients receive a trophy, a certificate of appreciation and a monetary award. All full-time faculty and classified employees are eligible and must have a minimum of one year of service and may receive the award only once in a two-year period.
- "You Make the Difference" is a program to acknowledge and demonstrate immediate and spontaneous appreciation for the contribution of individuals. A yearly catered event is held for all employees to attend with award drawings for those employees who have received "You Make the Difference" cards throughout the year.
Immediate awards are provided for recognition of service above and beyond expectation. Rewards may include gift cards, monetary awards, "You Make the Difference" cards and leave.
A Recognition Committee, of which members are voted upon annually by the classified workforce, plan for a variety of special college-wide events to recognize and honor employees throughout the year for their dedication, hard work and contributions.

For continually providing quality services to the community, students and employees, the Employee Recognition Committee is hosting for employees "A Special Treat for You" on July 30th from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. Present your employee ID badge and receive from our Chick-Fil-A location one of their yummy desserts!
Virginia Public Service Week Celebration
In honor of our faculty, staff and administration who make a difference each and every day, the Employee Recognition Committee hosted an Ice Cream Sundae Social to celebrate Virginia Public Service Week on May 7th.
