Fall 2013 Educational Foundation Scholarship Application

The Fall 2013 Educational Foundation Scholarship Application is now available. Please read all instructions and Apply Now. The deadline to apply is May 17, 2013. All materials must be hand delivered to the Educational Foundation, Fishburn Hall 214 by 4 p.m. on May 17, 2013. Eligibility Requirements

To apply for an Educational Foundation scholarship, you must:

Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
Be a high school graduate or have a GED.
Enroll in a minimum of six (6) credits, unless the scholarship you are applying for requires you to enroll full-time. Full-time enrollment is defined as being enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits per semester.

Instructions for Submitting Your Application

The Educational Foundation is using an online application process and ONLY online applications will be accepted.

Before beginning the online application process, assemble the required information below. Please note, you cannot save your application once you begin, you must complete the entire process at one time.

Print the Scholarship Descriptions (PDF).
Print the Statements of Recommendation (PDF).
Know your current cumulative high school or Virginia Western grade point average, and the number of Virginia Western credits you have earned, if applicable.
Have a copy of your signed tax return, and/or your parents' signed tax return.
Prepare a 250-word essay that addresses one of the following topics. Consult the Scholarship Essay Writing Tips (PDF) for assistance in completing your essay. If you have received a Foundation scholarship in previous years, you must address a different topic on your Fall 2013 application.
- What is a societal problem you believe needs to be addressed? Explain why and how.
- Discuss a special attribute or accomplishment that makes you unique.
- Who in your life has been your biggest influence and why? Do not include an immediate family member.
- Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
- Choose a book or books that have affected you deeply and explain why.
Please review the online application in its entirety before completing.

After Submitting Your Application

Required supplemental materials, such as transcripts, recommendations, a copy of your signed tax return, and materials required for specific scholarships must be HAND DELIVERED to the Virginia Western Educational Foundation.

Applications will not be considered if supplemental materials are not received by the deadline.

After clicking the Submit Application button, it is important that you print a copy of your application to keep as a backup should the Educational Foundation not receive your completed online application. There is a link on the "thank you" page that leads you to a way to print the application. The Foundation is not responsible for errors in receiving your application.
