"The big difference with a community college is the fact that nearly every family in the community is in someway touched by the community college...whether through conventional college courses, continuing education, job training, technical training, etc. There is good news and bad news there. The good is that families feel they can depend on VWCC...that like the post office, it will always be there for them. The bad news is perhaps it sometimes gets taken for granted. The community college system and VWCC in particular is an unparalleled resource for the Roanoke Valley. Speaking personally, it has in one way or the other touched every single adult member of my family."
