There are 2 GI Bill® programs reservists and Guard members are eligible for, even if they don’t qualify for the Montgomery GI Bill. You must be actively drilling with a unit to receive these benefits. If you have had no Active Duty service beyond training, you are eligible for Chapter 1606 benefits. The monthly pay rate for a full-time student under this program is $362 (effective October 1, 2013). Any kickers, etc. will be paid in addition to this base amount.
Chapter 1607 (REAP) benefits are available to reservists and Guard members who have served at least 90 consecutive days on Active Duty (not including training). The full-time pay rates range from $659 to $1318 (effective October 1, 2013) depending on the length of your active duty time. As with the other programs, any kickers, etc. will be paid in addition to the base rate.
