Administrative Officer for Career Placement

Position Number: FA112

Reports to: Career & Employment Assistance Officer (FA137)

This position serves the college’s Career and Employment Assistance Center providing administrative and job placement expertise for the college. The position employs organizational and marketing skills to promote the college and its graduates to businesses and industries throughout the college’s service region and elsewhere as information is available.


Responsible for providing full-time placement and internships for students; establishes and maintains an outreach to businesses and governmental agencies to promote career options by visiting potential employers to place graduates and promote programs; maintains collaborative relationships with faculty and program heads to develop a positive image for the Career Center. Assess employers’ needs and communicates needs to academic deans. Analyzes and compiles information on occupational technical degree graduates for the purpose of placing future graduates; networking opportunities; options for future internships and providing feedback to divisions on academic preparation of graduates. Disseminates information on graduates to include name of employers, occupation titles, job requirements and salary ranges to students, academic divisions and student services to promote programs and careers to future and currently enrolled students. Co-coordinates annual job fair for job placement of graduates and internships for currently enrolled students.


Develops, coordinates and facilitates training and skill development workshops to include resume writing, preparation for job fairs and interviewing techniques. Develops and refines resume writing, interviewing and job-search services for students.  Critiques and provides feedback on resumes of all graduates registering for placement assistance. Assists students with posting resumes on web site by demonstrating usage and controlling content of material.


Directs the job placement services information on the web site to ensure that the site contains updated information of job placement workshops, recruitment activities and available services to students and promotes activities of job placement services to employers. Responsible for updating material on web site; ensuring accuracy of material and providing assistance for employers and students in its usage.

5% Provides assistance to students in using the Choices career exploration software and other Career Center materials in their job-seeking activities. Develops and maintains appropriate placement materials.
