Distance Learning Orientation Fall 2010

If you are a student who has never taken a distance learning course, you must either attend an orientation session on the VWCC campus or complete the online general distance learning orientation session. You will find a link named Orientation in your Blackboard course to complete the online course orientation for your instructor. Each instructor determines how the completed online orientation will be recorded and evaluated but the requirement must be met either by attending the campus orientation or completing the online orientation

Note: For detailed information about the Distance Learning Orientation, please review the Distance Learning Student Letter which will be emailed in the beginning of August 2010.

6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

All students will meet in the Whitman Auditorium in the Business Science Building for the general orientation. The presentation will acquaint students with Blackboard and how to begin a distance learning course. Critical information will be presented about course deadlines and distance learning policies.

7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Assistance in M302 computer lab for anyone who wishes instruction on getting into Blackboard or locating a username and password

 

Distance Learning Fall 2010 Courses on Blackboard 9

Students who register for Fall 2010 classes may not have immediate access to their courses in Blackboard.  Students will be able to access all distance learning Blackboard courses on or before August 23, 2010. You confirm that you are registered for a class by checking your SIS/Peoplesoft information.  You may find your textbook information on the VWCC Course Schedule page http://www.virginiawestern.edu/classes/ or VWCC Bookstore link http://www.vwcc.bkstr.com or by contacting your instructor.

Weekend College

Weekend college is a schedule of courses taught in a traditional classroom setting on Saturdays. It is possible to graduate with a General Studies Degree or Social Science Degree combining Distance Learning courses with Weekend College courses.
