What is an Internship?

An internship at Virginia Western is a partnership between Virginia Western Community College, a student enrolled at Virginia Western Community College, and a local employer. This is a tremendous benefit for the employer and the student. The student can gain real world experience in his/her field of study while utilizing classroom knowledge. The employer can supplement his/her workforce with good employees and evaluate potential full-time hires at the same time. Internships can be paid or non-paid and may receive academic credit or not. In any case, it is a win, win situation for all!
