Employer Information & Forms
You may think that good help is hard to find. One way to obtain great new employees on a temporary basis or to groom them for permanent employment is to have motivated student interns with your company.
What is an Internship?
An internship is work experience in the student’s field of study. Together, the employer and student designate learning objectives that the student will gain from the experience under guidelines established by Virginia Western Community College.
What is required of employers?
- Provide students with meaningful employment related to field of study.
- Adhere to college timelines relative to work and school schedules, allowing flexibility for student registration, exams and graduation requirements. Establish and abide by working hours, salary, and benefits agreed to by the college, the student, and the employer.
- Provide proper supervision of work performed, to include completing and returning an evaluation at the end of the internship.
