June is National Men's Health Month! Now is the time for men to focus on their health.
Men's Health Fact #1 Prostate Cancer: Approximately 30,000 men die of prostate cancer each year. All men should consider a baseline PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) blood test at age 40. Men with a family history of prostate cancer, African-Americans, and Veterans exposed to Agent Orange are at high risk. These men should consider getting screen each year beginning at age 40, age 50 for all other men. This consists of a blood test and a quick physical exam.
Join us in F002 on June 10th at 11:30 a.m. for a visit from our CommonHealth representative Susan Perry. Susan will be talking about having a Healthy Heart.
Speaking of having a Healthy Heart, would you know how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) if someone in your department were to have a heart attack? Rick Wolfe will give a demonstration on using an AED that could save a life.
After the demonstrations join us for a short walk to get started immediately on your healthy heart!
This event is sponsored by the Health, Wellness and Fun Committee of the Staff Senate. All college employees are encouraged to attend. Water and snacks will be provided.
