Calendar Tip – Unlocking Doors – PLEASE READ!

When adding a reservation to the college's online calendar, don't forget to select the resources needed to have your room ready.

If you've made room reservations and have not selected the resource for Campus Police to unlock your doors that means someone else is double checking for you. Please don't leave this to chance!

Please refer to these instructions which will help you make sure your needs are met. http://www.virginiawestern.edu/facstaff/docs/FacStaffCalendarInst.pdf

On page 12 you'll find instructions on using the Resources section of the calendar. Be sure to use this to make sure your room is unlocked by Campus Police, need support from the Media Geeks or require a guest wireless password.

New option! A new option to use is "No need to unlock, user has a key". Please use this option if you do not need Campus Police to unlock the door. Using this option will let us know that the resource was not accidently left off.

Thank you and please contact Tara Nepper with any questions.

Are you ready?

Are you ready for the 30 DAY SQUAT CHALLENGE?

That's right, challenge yourself to do the 30 Day Squat Challenge. What else have you been doing this summer? How's that swimming going? Running all over the place? Is the bicycle still in the garage? Don't leave work, don't change clothes. If you can bend, you can squat.

Print out this chart - http://monicaelayne.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/squat-challenge.jpg . Lead a group in your area or join a friend. Get up and get it done!

Don't know how to do a squat? Sorry, that's no excuse - here's a video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-eQooI6Yds

July 1st - it's about to go down!

Brought to you by the Health-Wellness-Fun Committee of the Staff Senate.

2014 Instructional Technology Mini – Conference

The eLIT office and the VWCC Plus 50 Initiative are co-sponsoring the 2014 Instructional Technology Mini-Conference, a free one-day conference and professional development opportunity for all Virginia Western faculty and staff. The Mini-Conference will include a full day of sessions delivered by outside professionals on a broad range of topics: Blackboard Collaborate and Blackboard IM, Flipping the Classroom, Atomic Learning, Blackboard Learn Roadmap, and Instructional Technology for Adult Learners (Plus 50 learners). A complete conference agenda can be found here: http://vwccelit.blogspot.com/

VWCC faculty who complete the full-day mini-conference will receive a certificate equivalent to the completion of two-weeks of TOTAL workshop credits. These credits will contribute to satisfying the “Professional Development Objectives for Faculty Teaching Hybrid and Online Courses” as outlined in the new Faculty Evaluation and Development Plan (see page 9).

For faculty anticipated to teach only on-campus courses, these credits will also be considered “appropriate training in teaching with technology” that will contribute to meeting professional development objectives in the teaching domain of the new Faculty Evaluation and Development Plan (see page 9).

Time: Friday, July 25, 2014 from 8am to 4:15pm
Location: HP Multipurpose Room
Registration is now open at: http://tinyurl.com/kzff635
