Internet Explorer Safe to Use!!!

Microsoft released security updates late Thursday afternoon, May 1,  to address the vulnerability in Internet Explorer. IET applied a policy to block Flash content as an interim measure immediately upon notification of the flaw to mitigate the threat until the release of the security patch. The patch was queued for application Thursday afternoon and began application immediately. Friday morning the block of Flash was removed after confirmation of the patch application and systems appear to be returned to a normal state, allowing use of Internet Explorer.

In some cases a restart of the computer may be needed to fully apply the patch and clear the policy. Best practice is to restart your system periodically and log off at the end of the work period. This ensures that patches are applied efficiently and helps IET perform after hours maintenance. Please restart your system to ensure that the patch is applied and that the policy is cleared and return to using Internet Explorer as normal.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Help Desk at 7-7354.
