Professional Development – Finding Information

In the information provided about professional development opportunities, we listed the link to the VCCS’s new webapage and the information that is provided there on professional development. There is current information located at that site on New Horizons, but many of the other links are still inactive. The link to the old VCCS webpage on professional development is http://old.vccs.edu/FacultyStaff/ProfessionalDevelopment.aspx. This will provide you with some historical information that may be helpful in completing your application. Please keep in mind that this site is being phased out and that in the future the new webpage at http://www.vccs.edu/careers/office-of-professional-development/ should be your resource. However in this time of transition, you may need to refer to both.

Beware of phishing emails/calls

Recently we have had a surge of attempts to gain access to personal information in various ways.  Here are some tips to keep in mind when speaking about sensitive data.

If you do not know the company or person you are speaking with, you should not offer any information.

If you are suspicious of any attempts to gain information, you should state you do not feel comfortable disclosing that information and end the discussion.

If you receive an email that requires you to click a link to enter personal information, you should delete the email.

If you receive a call requesting your voicemail password, you should not give out your information.

As always, if something seems suspicious DON’T do it.  Please contact the Help Desk if you believe you have been targeted by one of these attempts and include as much information as possible (caller phone number, name, email details, etc.).
