Calendar Tip – Unlocking Doors

When adding a reservation to the college's online calendar, don't forget to select the resources needed to have your room ready.

On page 12 you'll find instructions on using the Resources section of the calendar. Be sure to use this to make sure your room is unlocked by Campus Police, need support from the Media Geeks or require a guest wireless password.

Full Time Friday Fall 2014

      Have you considered Full Time Friday(ftf) program?

·         What degrees does the program allow student to earn?

o    As of today, Full Time Friday is only for students who pursue a degree in General Studies.

·         What do I need to enroll in the program?

o    Contact the coordinator Alexander Scott (ascott@virginiawestern.edu) or 540-857-7247 or Admissions.

·         How many courses/credit hours does the degree have?

o    The typical course load of 60 credit hours and for a Full-Time Fridays’ student, it is spread over Fall and Spring semesters for two years.

·         What are classes like?

o    Most of Full-Time Friday classes are hybrid courses; they blend online and on-campus instruction.

·         What benefits do I have by becoming a Full Time Friday student?

o    One on one advising, one day of a week dedicated to improve your life and career, save time and gas, maintain a full time student status, finish your career in two years; if followed the program schedule and more days of the week for family and work.

Horticulture Club Poinsettia Sale

POINSETTIA SALE

at the Virginia Western Greenhouse

The Horticulture Club at Virginia Western will be selling beautiful poinsettias this Friday, Saturday and the following Monday in the greenhouse. The plants will be decorated with foil, ribbon and a bow. Poinsettias make a great Christmas gift to be enjoyed throughout the Christmas season and beyond.  Stop by the greenhouse and purchase a poinsettia for yourself and that special person on your gift list.

Our poinsettias are sold in four sizes: 

6” singles, $7.00 each                      Oval Planter, $20.00 each              

    7 ½” doubles, $12.00 each               Hanging Baskets, $30.00 each

We also have white blooming Euphorbia 'Hip Hop' for sale. The Euphorbia is a great accent plant to display with poinsettias.

Foliage plants in 4.5" containers will also be available at the sale. These are great plants to give as a gift when visiting friends for Christmas parties.

Spring 2014 In-Service

We have had an amazing fall semester. Our upcoming in-service will be an opportunity to update you on some of these achievements and present some of the future visions of the College. Additionally, we have arranged for a guest speaker to help us launch “Navigate”, our QEP. There will be a variety of sessions for both faculty and staff during this in-service. ** Update Your Mailing Address!! **

Attention ALL employees (Full and Part-Time, Faculty and Staff):

To make sure Payroll has your current mailing address for W2 purposes, please review and update your address no later than December 13th, 2013.   

To Edit an address:

  • Log-in to PeopleSoft.
  • Click "Main Menu".
  • Click "Self Service".
  • Click "Personal Information Summary".
  • Click "Change Home/Mailing Addresses" button.
  • Then click the “Edit” button to the right of the address which needs to be updated.
  • Fill out the form with your new mailing address information.  You must list the same address in the HOME and MAILING address variables.  Please ensure you are using proper USPS format and abbreviations.  The Postal code MUST be in the nine-digit format. Use this link to find your code: http://zip4.usps.com.
  • Residence/Juris Code should be the city or county location of the corresponding address.
  • List effective date of address change next to “On this date”.
  • Click “Save”.
  • Click “Ok”.
  • Click “Return to Personal Information” when verification of Address is complete.

Additionally, you must submit all address changes to the Human Resources Department. This can be done by emailing Heidi McClintic (hmcclintic@virginiawestern.edu) from your VWCC Employee Email Account (or you can use your VCCS Student Email account if you do not have an Employee Email Account with our college) with the request.

You should also take a few minutes to update all of your personal information.  The Job Aid in on VWConnect (has to be accessed while on campus or thru virtual network).  Go to HUMAN RESOURCES > PEOPLESOFT HRMS > Select the appropriate Checklist based on your position status (full-time or part-time).
