SACSCOC Review

I am pleased to announce that we received the report from SACSCOC in response to the Compliance Certification that we submitted in March. The results were excellent. We received ten minor recommendations that simply require clarification or submission of documentation. There were no major concerns. We are tremendously excited by these results.

Dr. Sandel and I would like to express sincere congratulations to our SACSCOC team, particularly the IE Office of Rachelle Koudelik-Jones, Carol Rowlett, and Sarah Chitwood and the SACSCOC Steering Committee that consists of the IE Office, Dr. Sandel, Cheryl Miller, Angela Falconetti, Mike Shelton, and Lori Baker. In addition to the efforts of the team, we also want to express a thank you to the entire campus community for your assistance with the assessments and documentation required for this process.

With all this being said, keep in mind that this is the first step in the process. We will work this summer to write a Focused Report responding to these recommendations. With the leadership of Jenifer Kurtz and the work done last year by Kristel Clark, we will write the QEP report. And, we will prepare for the On-Site visit in October. With all of this still ahead, as you are asked for assessment reports or documentation, please provide those as quickly as possible so that we can prepare the information for the On-Site visit. Now that we have solid, validated processes in place, we have to continue them. SACSCOC does not end after the On-Site visit, but is rather a continuing responsibility of the College.

Congratulations again to all of those that have worked so hard to bring us to this point. Virginia Western rocks!!!

Elizabeth

Interim Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs
