TIME TO REGISTER!

The Virginia Blackboard Users Group (VaBUG) announces its fifth annual conference, to be held at the Holiday Inn at Valley View in Roanoke, VA on Friday, October 24, 2014!

The conference will once again have free registration.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS!

The VaBUG Conference Committee is now accepting proposals for the 2014 Annual Conference.
The VaBUG conference is a great opportunity for Blackboard users to discover, discuss, learn, and share best practices. In order to afford its members the best possible personal and professional development opportunities, they are asking instructors, administrators, staff members, and any other interested members to submit proposals for concurrent sessions for this year’s conference. What exciting ways have you been utilizing Blackboard in the past year?
The concurrent sessions will be scheduled for 50 minutes (this includes time for questions and answers). Sessions will be organized along the following tracks:

  • Blackboard administration
  • Instructional design
  • Faculty best practices
  • K-12 best practices

Please consider participating as a presenter, and pass this message along to someone you feel may be interested in participating.

Summer 2013 Blackboard Course Deletion

It is now time to remove all Summer 2013 courses and before. All Summer 2013 (and prior) courses will be removed from the production Blackboard environment on August 15, 2014.

The criteria for removal at this stage:

  1. Course ID ending in "SU13"
  2. Or created before May 1, 2013

Procedure:

  • On July 30, title of courses is changed to include "Will delete August 15, 2014" and courses are made unavailable on Blackboard.
  • All courses are archived (this is an ongoing standard procedure) by VCCS ITS.
  • August 15, 2014 (and following) - all flagged courses will be removed from production.

Courses that are “deleted” will no longer be accessible to the instructor for access on Blackboard. The current VCCS policy allows courses to be accessible to instructors on Blackboard for three previous semesters and then the courses can be restored only by a Blackboard administrator. This is done by instructor request. So if you should need course content from an earlier semester, it can be restored.

If you have any questions, please contact the department of eLearning & Instructional Technology (eLIT) at eLIT@virginiawestern.edu
