As we approach the time of year when many of us are out of the office for various reasons, please remember to set your out of office message on your voicemail and email. This will help foster positive communications on campus while you are away.

STATE VEHICLE RESERVATIONS – PLEASE READ!

Please follow these guidelines when requesting use of a state vehicle.

  • The form to reserve vehicles is NOT the same as reserving a room. Please use this form found on the FMS webpage.
  • NEW - print out the email confirmation and bring with you to pick up the vehicle. You may not be able to pick up a vehicle if you do not have the confirmation.
  • If you are entering a reservation for someone else please put the DRIVERS' name and contact information.
  • If you do not need a reserved vehicle PLEASE use the link in your confirmation email to delete the reservation or contact Tara Nepper at tnepper@virginiawestern.edu.
  • Campus Police will assist with vehicles reserved to be picked up outside of the hours of FMS.

Thank you for your help in making this process as smooth as possible.

Testing Center Extended Hours

For the last two weeks of the Spring Semester the Testing Center will have extended hours.

Beginning April 27th and going through May 9th the Testing Center will be open the following hours:

Monday - Thursday 8am -8pm

Friday 8am - 5pm

Saturday 9am-1pm

We stop handing out tests a half hour before closing. All tests must be finished by closing time. No children are allowed in the Testing Center.

Please let your students know!

Earth Day Yoga in the Arboretum Today!

The Fitness Center is offering free yoga in the gardens to celebrate Earth Day! Join instructor, Terry Flaherty, as you stretch, breath, relax and retreat into the beauty of nature!

Where: The VWCC Community Arboretum
Time: 10am-11am & 12pm-1pm!

Mindless Eating - A Different Approach to Weightloss
Fascinating research by Peter Wansink, Ph.D. published in his books "Mindless Eating" & "Slim by Design", will be presented. His studies ask questions such as: Does the size of a plate/cup/bowl effect how much you eat? What is the effect of eating while watching TV? How does the arrangement of food in your pantry/refrigerator affect what and how much you eat. Learn how to change your environmental versus relying on will power to lose weight or improve your diet.

Join us at the Fitness Center for Free classes every week!

Hip Hop Cardio: Mondays 8:30am-9:30am Dance to the beat and burn calories.

Hard Core: Mondays 9:30am - 10:00am An intense 30 min workout for the power house.

Mindful Meditation: Mondays 12:00pm-1:00pm Stop breathe observe and connect with your inner experience.

Step it Up: Tuesdays 11:30am - 12:30pm Get your heart pumping! This class utilizes a raised surface, choreography.

Yoga: Tuesdays 12:30pm-1:30pm ,Wednesdays 11:00am-11:50am and  5:30pm-6:30pm Intermediate stretch and flow class. Internal focus for energizing and calming.

Sculpting Blast: Tuesdays 5:30pm-6:30pm and Thursdays 8:30am - 9:30am A weight-based class targeting specific muscles. Uses medicine balls, weights, and bands.

Buns, Guns, and Guts: Wednesdays 12:30pm-1:30pm Focuses on booty, arms, and abs. Uses hand weights and mild cardio.

Salsa Dancing: Thursdays 2:30pm-3:30pm Learn the steps while giving your body workout and have fun. No partner needed

Pilates: Thursdays 5:30pm-6:30pm Lengthen and strengthen your entire body using core muscles and incorporating strength training.

Zumba Fitness: Fridays 12:30pm-1:30pm Dance-based fitness that use a fusion of Latin and International rhythms with easy-to-follow moves.

The Academic Link (main floor of Brown Library) and Library Services (top floor of Brown Library) are having special hours to support students through the end of this semester:
