- VWCC BAJA TEAM "TOPS" IN COMPETITION! Congratulations to Virginia Western's Baja Team who was the top finishing team among community college competitors and the top finishing college from the state of Virginia beating out UVA and JMU at last week's SAE International Mini Baja Competition in Rochester, NY. Our team finished 53rd overall in the international competition of 100 competitors. Virginia Western's team also finished in the top 20 of several events!
- ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE Business and industry professionals will not want to miss Virginia Western's upcoming Advanced Technology Showcase on May 13 from 4 - 7 p.m. in the Advanced Technology Center of Webber Hall. Click here for details.
- ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY students pass Microsoft certification exam! Several students from the Administrative Management Technology programs successfully passed the Microsoft Certified Application Specialist exam for Word 2007. The students who received the certification
- are: Kitty Alba, Kerri Bowman, Michelle Broughman, Tiffany Harper, Nancy Paciga, and Ginger Taylor. Congratulations to these students and their instructors.

- VWCC STUDENTS ARE INVOLVED IN MANY REGIONAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL EVENTS!
Congratulations to Brian Hall and Matt Poor who advanced to the Round Three-Theater Finale for the 2009 Cisco Networking Academy NetRiders Skills Challenge, and we have learned that their team placed 18th among teams participating in the US-Canada Theater wide competition. This is quite an accomplishment!
The SAE Mini Baja Challenge is just one example of an international competition. Since 2006, where VWCC finished first among community colleges, we have had a competitive team in the Challenge. Countries involved in this year’s international event are Brazil, Puerto Rico, Canada, South Africa, Columbia, South Korea, France, Turkey, India, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, and the United States.
Congratulations to Sam Fochtman, a student in the A.A.S. degree Culinary Arts program, who won 1st Place in the Dessert category for a recipe he entered in a recipe contest sponsored by Dole! Click here for more details.
- DON'T MISS THE NEW NON-CREDIT SEMINARS IN CULINARY ARTS! Click here to review these new seminar offerings that are available to the public. You do not have to be a culinary major to participate in these seminars.
- Registration for the summer semester starts April 19, and there have been exciting changes to the Information Systems Technology A.A.S. and career studies programs that are effective summer 2010. It is critical that majors understand these changes. Please contact one of the four faculty advisors for more information before registering:

- ATTENTION ACCOUNTING AND MANAGEMENT MAJORS! The Accounting and Management degree program articulation agreements with Radford University expired on June 30, 2009. Students in the Accounting or Management degree program should have completed their degree and Radford University application process by July 1, 2009 in order to have automatic transfer access into the degree programs at Radford University. RU and VWCC are in discussion on a new partnership agreement that will offer students in these programs flexible transfer opportunities to RU. Information will be made available on the new partnership as soon as possible. Questions should be directed to the office or accounting faculty.
