Pruning
An overview of the proper shrub and tree pruning techniques recommended for the home garden. Equipment selection and maintenance as well as safety consideration will be discussed.

Water Gardening
This class will meet at Greenfield Educational Center. An introduction to designing, constructing, planting, and maintaining a water garden in the home landscape. Emphasis will be placed on selection of plants and other aquatic life that maximizes beauty and minimizes maintenance.

Vineyard & Vintage
Students will trace the history of grape growing and wine making from prehistoric eras to Virginia's entrance into the competitive wine markets. Students will get hands-on experience in factors that affect viticulture, including site and cultivar selection, planting considerations, pruning and training techniques, nutritional requirements and pests. Students will participate in wine making and sensory evaluation of foreign and domestic wines.

Landscaping Your Home
A practical approach to beautifying the home landscape. Concentration on design, planting, pruning, pest control, and fertilization.

Pesticide Applicator Training
An overview of Virginia state regulations required for pesticide applicator certification. This seminar is designed to prepare students for required certification examinations for private applicators, registered technicians and commercial applicators (Categories 3A, 3B, 3C).
