Under the Virginia Senior Citizens Higher Education Act of 1974, amended in 1976, 1977, 1982, and 1988, anyone who is 60 years of age or older, who is a legal domiciliary of Virginia, and whose Virginia taxable income does not exceed $15,000 is eligible to enroll in credit courses for academic credit at the college.
Senior citizens may register for and audit courses offered for academic credit (with the exception of the Motorcycle Rider Safety course), or for courses offered as non-credit.
Senior citizens registering for courses under the provisions of the Senior Citizens Higher Education Act must complete a Senior Citizen Tuition Assistance Agreement Form (PDF) prior to the class starting date. In addition, senior citizens registering under the provisions of this Act may register only after tuition-paying students are accommodated, unless the senior citizen has completed 75% of their degree requirements at Virginia Western.
