The mission of the Radiation Oncology certificate program is to provide the communities and diverse populations we serve with radiation therapists dedicated to excellence and integrity who are prepared to meet the challenges of an evolving healthcare environment.
The Radiation Oncology Certificate Program is a five-semester program. Upon successful completion of the program a certificate in Radiation Oncology is awarded.
The Radiation Oncology Curriculum is designed to prepare selected students to qualify as contributing members of the allied health care team who provide a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic services under the supervision of qualified professionals. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to take the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists national registry examination leading to certification as a registered Radiation Therapist, RT(T).
The Radiation Oncology program offers a variety of didactic and clinical courses in radiation therapy treatment and procedures, patient care, clinical education, and general education requirements. Refer to the general college catalog for Radiation Oncology certificate program curriculum.
The Radiation Oncology program goal is to provide educational experiences to ensure that students develop academically, clinically, and professionally. In addition, the program seeks to enable students to enhance their own self-worth as well as develop flexible, intelligent, and mature responses to the changing requirements of the profession. Instructors in Radiation Oncology endeavor to instill in the student self-discipline, self-reliance, and pride in serving.
