Academics :: School of Health Professions

Radiation Oncology

When To Apply

Applications for the fall 2016 Class are being accepted now through March 15, 2016. Applicants who provide all necessary material and have a complete file by March 15, 2016 will be considered for admission. Early application is encouraged for advising purposes. By applying to VWCC and submitting your high school and college transcripts to the pre-admission advisor, we will be able to determine if you currently meet the minimum academic requirements, evaluate placement test results, and make course suggestions.

How To Apply

We require all application material(s) be submitted directly to Health Professions - if you fail to do so, be aware we will not be responsible for any delays in processing your file. Complete the following and submit in one envelope addressed to Pam Woody, VWCC-Health Professions, 3091 Colonial Ave., Roanoke, VA 24015.

  • Apply to the college by completing a VWCC college application, if not currently attending. You are encouraged to complete the application on-line at Please make sure you indicate your program/plan of study as Radiation Oncology/Pre-Admission on the VWCC application. (Those interested in the Joint Venture with NVCC must register/complete a college application for both NVCC and VWCC prior to March 15th. If already active at NVCC, then do a new VWCC only. Please contact the NVCC Admissions Office or visit their website for additional instructions on applying to NVCC.)
  • Apply to the Radiation Oncology Program by completing a 2016 Radiation Oncology Application Form.
  • Have all official sealed transcripts (high school and college) and a copy of GED scores (if applicable). We strongly suggest the applicant request transcript(s) be sent to the applicant's mailing address, so you are fully aware of whether your request is filled and all material can be placed by you in one larger envelope for submission. Remember, do not open any envelope which contains a sealed transcript you plan to submit for application, they are no longer "official" to us when you have opened them. If any school refuses to issue "official" transcripts directly to student, please request they be sent addressed directly to Pam Woody at the address above instead. Please do not request transcripts from VWCC, NVCC, or any other community college in Virginia (only exception).

College graduates must still provide their official HS transcript. Transcripts are also required from any hospital-based Radiologic Professions program of study attended. You must provide an official transcript from each school attended, even though courses may appear on a subsequent schools transcript as accepted "transfer". We must still receive the original institutions transcript. You should receive the Radiation Oncology pre-admission advising form letter after your complete academic file is reviewed by the Information Specialist (usually within 3-4 weeks if received from May-December).
