Applications for the 2014 Class are being accepted now and must be completed by March 1, 2014. The 2013 Class is already filled. Current enrollment in missing prerequisites is not required to apply, but must be completed by the established timeframe to be eligible for the 2014 program.
By applying early to VWCC and submitting official transcripts of high school and college coursework, Pam Woody (Health Professions Information Specialist) will be able to help you with your course selections each semester. This would allow us to advise you in a timely manner of any prerequisite requirements you have not met and how you may meet those requirements, as well as selecting courses that can be utilized to increase the cumulative GPA by the end of the Fall '13 semester. You would also be notified of any additional material you would be expected to provide prior to the deadline. Miss Woody will also notify you of any changes in the curriculum that might affect your future course selections prior to entering the program. You must take the responsibility for submitting all material on time and being flexible on scheduling entrance exam with no advance notice.
We require all application material(s) be submitted directly to Health Professions - if you fail to do so, be aware we will not be responsible for any delays in processing your file. Complete the following and submit (if applicable) in one envelope to Pam Woody, VWCC-Health Professions, P.O. Box 14007, Roanoke, VA 24038.
If any school refuses to issue "official" transcripts directly to a student, please request they be sent addressed directly to Pam Woody at the address above. Please do not request transcripts from VWCC or any other community college in Virginia. Transfer information provided on a subsequent school's transcript is not acceptable in lieu of the actual originating school's transcript. College graduates must still provide their official High School transcript. GED holders must also submit official high school transcripts if completed at least through the 9th grade, in addition to a copy of the GED scores. Home-schooled students must provide a detailed curriculum progress/grade report from their school administrator. Put all transcripts with your Nursing application into one envelope and mail to the address above.
Please note: The GPA is calculated at the end of the Fall 2013 semester. All early applicants who attempt or complete college courses at non-VCCS institutions after their initial academic file is complete must submit updated "official" transcripts after Fall '13 grades are posted, to be received at VWCC prior to the March 1, 2014 deadline. All updated transcripts need to be sent directly to Attn: Pam Woody at the address given above. All applicants should receive a Nursing Advising form letter after the academic file is reviewed by the Health Careers Information Specialist (usually 3-4 weeks after receipt if received from May - December). You can review this presentation to learn more about the application process and eligibility.
